In the midst of my normal Bible reading, I am working with my wife to try to memorize the book of James. It is such an amazing book of the Bible. So much depth to it even though it is fairly short. We are both about 3/4 of the way through chapter 1.
What has this done for us?
It has been a great something to lean on both at home and at work. Our team getting ready to go to Cambodia is reading through it, as the book of James is a great guide for doing ministry in the flesh. It is an amazing testimony to the Truth.
Think about it this way, if you have a brother or a sister, what would it take for you to believe they are the Son of God – actually, God. What would it take for you to believe that sibling of yours was raised from the dead after you watched them die at their execution?
I’m guessing you can’t think of anything that would make you believe either of those things. Which is why James is so amazing. James didn’t buy Jesus’ story while he was alive and who would? But once Jesus was resurrected, James saw him and believed and became an amazing testimony in the early church – as we read in the book of James.
I challenge you to read the book of James today. It’s only 5 chapters. You could read it on a break or at lunch. If you can read James and not think that at least one phrase in there is life changing or wowing or something, let me know in the comments and I’ll send you a prize. Because that friends would truly be unbelievable.
For everyone else – what phrase from James did you write down or read twice or underline or highlight? Let me know in the comments.
