Warren Buffet, in a 2011 interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:
“I could end the deficit in 5 minutes,” he told CNBC. “You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election.
I think this is a great idea. But I also think the idea of career politicians is not good. Term limits in all elected positions, so we get fresh blood, fresh ideas and folks willing to take risks for the people rather than play it safe for re-election.
Just my thoughts, make sure you get out to vote, for something.

Our Founding Fathers volunteered their time to create this nation, and they all had other business of some sort that fed their families. I understand that it would be asking a bit much of our congressmen & women to work for free, but it also should not be their sole means of support and/or retirement plan. Term limits, and they live by the same rules and benefit from the same retirement and health plans as the rest of us. Golly… Is that a radical idea or what?
BTW – I was really convicted by yesterdays blog on “What is the cost?” Great stuff! Thanks!
