Put It Away

2 Samuel 12:13

“David said to Nathan, ‘I have sinned against the Lord.’ And Nathan said to David, ‘The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die.”

This is one of the most beautiful verses in the Bible. David has just had a big boo boo. His big mess up. Bathsheba. And he just got busted by God – through Nathan. And now he knows it’s time to pay the piper. He knows that God expects retribution for the sins perpetrated upon Him. But Nathan says no, God will take this one.

This is a precursor to what God has given to us today. God gave us Jesus. A way to allow God to “put away our sins.” All we have to do is accept the gift being offered. If you think, “Nah, I’ve done too much. I’m too bad. I’m too far gone.” Look at David. Read 2 Samuel 11 and tell me you’ve been worse than that. Adultery and murder in the same week.

God put that away for David. Let Him do the same for you.
