Good enough…
March 21, 2012, 9:29 am

I get the feeling our community is plagued by good enough.

I am a huge offender of this as well. My wife pushes me to go above and beyond good enough when it comes to stuff on our house. I’m like, “I can figure it out.” and she is like, that isn’t good enough. My point is, we can’t afford excellent, but we can pull off good enough. Her point is, she isn’t interested in the change if it isn’t excellent.

Who’s right?

Though I really wish I could say it was me. I can’t.

Good enough, isn’t good enough. And here is why.

We are made in the image of our God. It isn’t haphazard, it’s perfect or might I say excellent. We are made to strive for excellence in everything. In our relationships. In our worship. In our pursuit of God.

However, we get little whispers all the time that tell us that “Good enough is good enough…” We don’t need to keep striving after excellence.

I want to repent of my good enough philosophy. I want to pursue excellence in all areas. I want to purge my system of good enough.

I’m not going to sling shot all the way over to a perfectionist where nothing is ever good enough, but I do want to strive for excellence. I don’t deserve it but God does.

Hidden Treasure

I was just reminded today about an awesome little hidden treasure here in Ottumwa. It is a little bed and breakfast. It is pretty new and it is beautiful. You can check it out here. It is called The Oak Meadow Delight Bed & Breakfast.

I know the family a little bit who is running it and they are hoping this place can be used to bless couples and marriages. If you are looking for a getaway but you want to be reasonable in what you spend. You have to check it out. Prices are reasonable, its quiet and luxurious.

If you don’t think you need a weekend or a couple of nights away, you are wrong. Come on ladies – surprise your men. Men – you are sissies if you don’t give this place a try. Do it, do it now.

You are welcome.
